Why Is Commercial Tuckpointing Important?

There are many reasons why commercial tuckpointing is important. First, it can help to prevent water damage.

When mortar joints are cracked or deteriorating, water can seep into the brickwork and cause problems like mold growth or structural instability.

Tuckpointing helps to seal up these cracks and prevent water from getting in.

Second, tuckpointing can improve the appearance of a building. Cracked or crumbling mortar can make a commercial property look old and rundown.

Tuckpointing can neaten the joints and give the brickwork a clean look. Third, tuckpointing can improve the overall strength of a building.

When mortar deteriorates and crumbles, it leaves gaps where water can enter. Once inside, the water can cause further damage and weaken the walls.

Excellent work and nice guys to work with. Peter gave me an estimate that turned out to be very reasonable for repaving my driveway and also for some tuck-pointing. The results turned out really well and I'm glad I found them and hired them.

When we lived on the northwest side, Augustyn Construction fixed our driveway and then a couple years later they did all the tuckpointing that was needed. Since then we bought a "fixer-upper" on the southwest side and we called them to take a look and they wound up doing the majority of the work - roofing, concrete and tuckpointing. Thanks Peter for your expertise and hard work. We really appreciate it!

Without a doubt this is a five star masonry company. Peter showed up at the scheduled time for an estimate which turned out to be reasonable and then his crew came out the following week and completed the job on time and did outstanding work. They were great to work with and I recommend them without any reservation.

Last month was the second time we contracted with Augustyn do some work for us and this time it was repairing our driveway where the concrete needed replacing and some work on our roof. They did the same fine job they did last time when some tuck pointing work was needed and I guess we should have written a review back then. Better late than never. The owner (Peter) is easy to work with and the workers have an excellent work ethic. The cost wasn't bad either.

Most Frequent Questions and Answers

Tuckpointing is a type of masonry repair that involves filling in the cracks between bricks with a new mortar. This helps to improve the strength and stability of the wall, as well as its appearance. Tuckpointing is a difficult and meticulous process, but it is important to maintain the integrity of brick buildings.

The most common type of tuckpointing is done with brick walls, but it can also be used on stone and concrete walls.

There are a few ways to tell if your building needs tuckpointing. One way is to look at the condition of the mortar between the bricks.

If the mortar is cracked, chipped, or otherwise damaged, it may be time to tuckpoint.

Another way to tell if your building needs tuckpointing is to look for gaps between the bricks. If you see any gaps, the mortar has deteriorated and needs to be replaced.

Generally speaking, though, tuckpointing should be done every 10-15 years to keep the building in good condition.

If you have bricks that are cracked, spalling, or otherwise in need of repair, it is best to call a tuckpointing professional. They will be able to assess the damage and recommend the best course of action.

The estimator should get back to you within 48hrs.

The cost of tuckpointing varies depending on several factors, including the size and scope of the project, the type of mortar used, the number of coats required, and the geographic location.

Generally speaking, tuckpointing projects can range in cost from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. To get an accurate cost, it’s best to get an estimate from a commercial tuckpointing professional.

What is the difference between tuckpointing vs repointing?

Tuckpointing is the process of repairing and sealing the joints between bricks, while repointing is the process of renewing the mortar between bricks. The main difference between tuckpointing and repointing is that tuckpointing is used to repair existing mortar joints, while repointing is used to replace existing mortar joints.

Repointing is necessary when the mortar joint has deteriorated to the point where it can no longer support the weight of the bricks.
